About the business
Enspiral Dev Academy (EDA) offers an intensive web development training program for aspiring web developers and career changers. We select the best people based on their analytical ability, passion, desire to work very hard, and their emotional self-awareness and resilience. Our focus is on helping individuals to develop the full range of skills necessary to make a difference in today's rapidly changing technical landscape. Among these skills, we emphasise learning how to learn.
About the role
We are looking fort an experience developer to join us as a teacher on our Auckland campus. You don't need formal teaching experience, but need passion for learning and teaching, patience and need to love coding. You'd be the contact person for the students, supporting them on the floor, delivering lectures and supporting them on their learning journey.
Our curriculum covers full-stack JavaScript web development using Node.js, Express, React and Redux. We also work with relational databases, expose and consume web APIs and deploy to cloud infrastructure. There is an intentional focus on unit testing and integration testing throughout the course. We also cover agile software practices such as sprint planning, retrospectives, pair programming, prioritised backlogs, customer demos and Git workflows so graduates are able to add value straight away. You'll either have experience in the above, or the ability to get up to speed quickly.

Skills and experience
In terms of experience and personal qualities, here is a non-exhaustive list:
- Some familiarity—or ability to come up to speed quickly—with emerging technologies such as single-page applications, real-time applications, functional programming, functional reactive programming, progressive web apps, web components, etc
- Spends at least some time coding for fun
- Experience and enthusiasm for teaching and coding
- Patience
- The ability to explain complex concepts in simple language and to make the abstract concrete
- Ability to see others with kindness and understanding, to find value in diverse views and beliefs
