An exciting opportunity is available in the Mercury Wholesale Markets team for a Wholesale Markets Analyst looking to develop skills and knowledge within the Electricity Industry.
Based in Auckland or Hamilton you will provide quality information and advice to the Trading, Dispatch and Sales teams and Mercury management in order to support sound decision making, optimise Mercury's Trading performance, and increase the efficiency of the Wholesale Markets Group.
Responsibilities include;
Provide advice or management reporting in the following areas:
- Pricing analysis.
- Risk analysis.
- Margin maximisation.
- Portfolio optimisation.
- Fuel optimisation.
- Transmission analysis.
- Energy margin and sales/generation volume forecasting.
Prototype and develop new applications and processes to enhance performance.
Engage in research to further the long terms interests of company.
Participate in innovation and cross-fertilisation of ideas for the development of the individual and the company.
We're looking for someone who is able to demonstrate the following:
- University or equivalent degree in a quantitative mathematical discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering or Commerce particularly Finance and Economics.
- Good quantitative analytical ability.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Competent in use of Excel.
- Competent in VBA programming or other programming discipline.
- Competent in SQL programming.
Graduate applications will also be considered.
