The Opportunity

We’re looking for a talented and motivated Manager or Associate Director with strong financial modelling expertise to join our Corporate Finance team in Auckland.  This is your chance to join a market leading Corporate Finance practice and develop your skills with an innovative, high-performing organisation that is committed to its people. You will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience including directly relevant experience in a specialist financial modelling role.

Our Corporate Finance team provides  services to our clients in both the private and public sectors across a range of areas which include not only core Corporate Finance activities such as M&A, transaction services, due diligence and valuation but also increasingly broader financial advisory services including financial modelling, economic analysis, infrastructure business cases, procurement support, and financial option analysis.  In this role you will be working on a variety of different projects throughout the year giving you exposure to colleagues and mentors with a variety of skillsets at all levels of the business.

As a financial modelling specialist, you will have the opportunity to leverage your technical skills to develop your advisory skill set.  You will use your technical expertise to assist the team in advising clients on their most strategically important and interesting projects, such as: assessing new capital projects, analysing the feasibility of joint venture arrangements, evaluating entry into export markets, transaction bid modelling, or analysing the impact of regulatory change.

Your profile

You will have a passion for financial analysis and modelling, be highly numerate and strong attention to detail.  You will be driven to continually learn and develop throughout your career, with a commercial mind and the ability to understand complex problems.

In your role, you will act as a role model and lead by example in mentoring other team members in relation to financial modelling best practice. You will be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of commercial business considerations and the ability to establish credibility and instill confidence in clients.

We are looking for someone who has:

• 6 to 7 years post qualification experience within a professional services or advisory environment, preferably including  experience in a specialist financial modelling role
• Corporate finance, advisory, valuation or transaction experience is advantageous
• Strong financial analysis skills and commercial acumen with a proven ability in interpreting, defining and identifying solutions to commercial issues and problems
• Expertise in projects involving the development, testing or use of financial models to inform decision making
• Knowledge of analytical platforms: VBA, SQL/database languages, data analytics platforms (eg. Tableau) are an advantage, as well as a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent delivery and project management skills including expertise in providing advice to a range of clients and decision makers.
• Ability to mentor and lead junior team members and support the wider corporate finance team on client engagements.
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• A tertiary qualification in business or commerce
