The purpose of the Duty Operations Manager role is to proactively manage and direct Auckland Airport's Operations Centre with an emphasis on delivering operational performance with a high focus on customer service excellence, business performance, safety and security and employee engagement.

Key functions in this role:

  • Responsible for the effective running of the Apron Tower, Terminals, call centre, communication, incident control and monitoring operational requirements
  • Using data and other sources of business intelligence, proactively plan, manage and support the demand pipeline (passenger movements) efficiently using available resources and technology
  • Ensure the Apron Tower and Operations Centre procedures are relevant and appropriate e.g. emergency incidents, general operations, Incident Control Room, Communications and Monitoring
  • Maintain all regulatory requirements with special emphasis on aerodrome licensing requirements, Civil Aviation Regulations part 139 and Access Control systems
  • Ensure effective communication within the Airfield Operations and Landside Operations teams and between internal/ external relationships e.g. daily briefings, internal/ external scheduled meetings
  • Identifying, developing, implementing and ensuring training needs and requirements are met
  • Ensuring ongoing operational efficiency whilst maintaining brand and customer service differentiation
  • Continually coaching, developing, motivating and managing performance of the team

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in aviation or logistics, or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
  • Ideally five years' experience in an airport or outcome critical environment
  • Ideally at least two to four years' experience leading operational teams in a customer facing environment
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary large complex teams including building a high performing engaged teams and a positive team culture
  • Proven experience in coaching, mentoring and inspiring others to high performance
  • Strong planning and organisational skills including the ability to juggle conflicting priorities in a busy, constantly changing environment
