We need a driven and connected team member for a unique role leading the 1st Assembly startup hub in Hutt City - championing, supporting and coaching startup founders, teams and community.

The Startup Community Manager is in charge of the smooth running and cohesive culture of the 1st Assembly facility and community in Waterloo Road, Lower Hutt.

This is a central role in the work Creative HQ does with entrepreneurs and innovators in Wellington region and around Aotearoa.

Creative HQ operates within the startup ecosystem and early-stage business community to upskill founders and educate aspiring entrepreneurs. We support and accelerate the commercialisation of high growth ventures. We work with corporate and govt organisations through programmes designed to empower a culture and capability of fast iterative innovation. 

We help people realise their entrepreneurial potential.

What to expect 

You keep things working and make the place hum. You’ll be well connected to the day-to-day workings of the teams and founders at 1st Assembly, be the proud host to visitors, and fully invested in the customer experience and seamless operation.

You’ll help Creative HQ manage relationships with the local community, and our funders and stakeholders.

Your initiative and insight into the need and interests of our residents and their support networks will help us improve the experience and success of 1st Assembly.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop your own expertise and knowledge in startups and technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support startup ventures, alongside Creative HQ’s venture management team

  • Building 1st Assembly’s profile and network in Lower Hutt and the wider region

  • Engaging new residents for 1st Assembly, and connecting them to the local and regional business support community    

  • Managing the operational requirements of our premises and residents, day-to-day. 

Ideally you will demonstrate the following skill-sets:

  • Experience in or with early-stage business
  • Strong interest in STEAM technologies and industries 
  • Experience in facility mgmt, including health and safety, project mgmt, procurement and stakeholder mgmt.
  • Self-starter who thinks creatively and is independently motivated to deliver exceptional customer experience
  • Engaging personality and ability to be high energy, resilient, with genuine customer focus
  • Organised, with a proven ability to focus in a very busy environment where you will be regularly interrupted
  • Collaborative, self-sufficient and confident

This is an ongoing role, we are open to part-time or full-time applicants, for 30-40 hours a week across five days. You will be based in central Lower Hutt.
