We're on the lookout for an experienced, enthusiastic and talented ecologist to join our team of energetic and passionate professionals. You'll be working on a broad range of challenging and rewarding projects, including field-based projects which may require time away from our Auckland office working.
Ideally, you'll bring at least 3 years' professional experience, along with the following skills and attributes:
- A relevant professional qualification in an area related to terrestrial ecology
- Knowledge and experience of herpetology and handling New Zealand fauna using best practice methods (preferred)
- Attention to detail in the observation and recording of field data.
- Knowledge and experience with managing data sets with spreadsheets and other software (GIS and related tools would be advantageous).
- Experience in designing and implementing robust fauna surveys is preferred but not essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including being an effective and confident communicator with colleagues and contractors.
- Demonstrated experience in writing reports and fauna management plans efficiently and succinctly.
- Knowledge of the Resource Management Act and its application.
- An understanding of risk management principles and their application (including Health and Safety best practice).
- Well-developed problem-solving skills to trouble shoot on-the-fly, using innovative techniques as appropriate.
- An ability to effectively prioritise, allocate and manage time and resources, working as part of a team, as well as independently when required.
- A current and full Drivers Licence.
