We are looking for a Generation Controller to join our close-knit team based in Taranaki who are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day control, operation and maintenance of our power generation plant.
  
The Generation Controller role, while focused on operational delivery, provides a great opportunity for individuals wanting to gain, or extend, a comprehensive and broader working understanding of the many facets of the New Zealand energy industry that Nova Energy actively participates in.
  
About the Role:

• Power station control and operation in line-with all safety, operational, environmental and market requirements.
• Coordinate market monitoring, offer and dispatch functions in close liaison with the Trading team and other key internal and external stakeholders.
• Operate systems within plant capabilities and in accordance with operational instructions, procedures and manuals
• Maintain plant and systems familiarity through providing assistance with front-line Operations and Maintenance activities.
• Ensure proactive front-line management of operational plant outages, faults and defects to ensure timely stakeholder communications and safe and timely plant return to service.
• Support a continuous improvement programme though ongoing management of key documentation and information, including development and updates to key operating processes and procedures.

  
About You:

• Mechanical or electrical training (secondary and tertiary level) and have completed an apprenticeship or Level 4 Certificate in Maintenance and Diagnostics or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• At least 2 years heavy industry, generation, marine or large aero gas turbine experience in either operations and/or maintenance.
• Good knowledge of power generation and water treatment plant systems and equipment.
• Sound knowledge of the New Zealand electricity industry and role of market and system operators would be beneficial.
• Sound knowledge of power generation plant and equipment, preferably industrial gas turbine engine operation and maintenance or associated control systems.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Calm, logical and methodical when working under pressure.
• Ability to participate in shift work and work on a call-out roster.
