We are embarking on one of the largest housing building programmes this country has seen in decades as we significantly increase the number of homes we provide and improve the quality of our current stock.

The role you’ll play

This new senior role will be the catalyst for a change in purpose for finance at HNZ, evolving from operational support to enterprise wide decision support. This team will challenge the status quo, and take an organisation-wide approach to problem solving, efficiency improvements and risk management. You’ll be proactive in evaluating options and providing alternative ways in which HNZ manages CAPEX and OPEX to maximise outcomes and minimise risk. Ultimately your work will improve both commercial and social outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the CFO this is a pivotal role in providing strategic, commercial and financial support on the construction programme to the ADG General Manager and Leadership Team. Lead a team of four Business Partners and trusted challengers of thinking that will help make the best decisions for ADG and for Housing NZ to deliver is strategy.

Your responsibilities

• Provide robust, effective business and financial leadership and advice to the ADG Management Team
• Actively influence day to day decisions, shaping strategy and the direction of the ADG business group
• Adopt a “challenger” posture, when required, grounded in facts and data to ensure the best quality decisions are made
• Leverage relationships with internal and external peers to create a collaborative approach in solving business problems and identifying opportunities
• Keep the CFO actively informed of ADG’s delivery progress and associated risks

About you & what’s in it for you

You’ll inspire and coach your team to do their best work and be well qualified with a MBA, Masters (Finance or Economics) or be CPA, CIMA, CAANZ or CFA qualified. You’ll also have a track record in strategic or business planning within a capital intensive business. You’ll have proven experience in financial planning, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, output costing and general costing underpinned by first class preparation and evaluation of investment proposals and strong financial and cost modelling experience.
