About the role

The Commercial Finance Manager role is responsible for the financial, commercial, contractual and administrative functions.  The key objectives of the role are:

• Maximise contract revenue, margin and cash flow
• Add value to the contract for both the Client and Ventia through proactive involvement in procurement, cost management, cash management and profit & loss reporting
• Manage Commercial items through robust negotiations and contract lifecycle management
• Ensure Ventia’s operations are efficient and effective in meeting business and customer requirements by presenting effective budget management information and identifying/implementing opportunities to maximise financial outcomes whilst minimising risk
• Support decision-making, commercial management and stewardship, measuring and driving performance and achievement to meet organisational objectives and targets.
• Ensure smooth and effective administration duties in support of Operations

About you

• Educated to Degree level preferably in a Business, Finance or Commercial field
• Demonstrated experience at a senior level including the key facets of financial management including developing and maintaining multiple budgets, maintaining cash flow, overseeing creditors and debtors, producing financial reports and ensuring statutory compliance
• Extensive experience in financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, forecasting and other general accounting services
• Ability to understand and analyse commercial conditions in contracts, and the ability to apply and comply with statutory legislation and regulations
• Strategic business development and planning experience
• Track record for challenging existing standards and costs for services through effective performance management processes and best values principals. 
• Relationship building experience and support to Senior Executive level stakeholders
• Previous experience in a services or utilities company (highly regarded)
• Demonstrated strong customer engagement and stakeholder management skills
• Communication skills both written and verbal, along with demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills are critical
• Previous experience in IBM Maximo, JDE, Primavera 6 and Kronos (advantageous but not essential)
