A little about the company
Our client is a rapidly growing business in the service industry with operations in several countries globally and further expansion planned. Off the back of this growth, a new opportunity has been created for a Company Accountant to join this close knit, Penrose based head office team to ensure the company’s ongoing success.
A little about the role
Reporting to the CFO, your role will initially be focussed around assessing internal controls, policies, procedures and processes to ensure consistency across this company’s multiple entities spanning different countries. Part of this will involve the creation of new ‘best practice’ policies. You will also look for opportunities to improve efficiency across the business, automating and streamlining where possible. After the bulk of this project work is completed and running smoothly, you will then work closely with the CFO as the effective Company Accountant for the New Zealand entity managing the day to day accounting work as well as the monthly reporting process to enable the CFO to focus on more strategic projects at group level. This will be a highly varied role which will enable you to grow your skill set and career with the company under the guidance of an experienced CFO.
A little about you
To be successful in this role, you do not have to be professionally qualified although qualified candidates or candidates nearing the completion of their CA or similar will be looked upon favourably. It is, however, essential that you have very strong systems and Excel experience and have exposure to automating processes as well as identifying and implementing efficiencies. Your role will be regularly changing as the company continues to evolve so you will need a proactive attitude to identify opportunities and threats as well as potential future project work. You will also need to help others in the team as required by rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck into the accounts. You will need a solid skill set across management and financial accounting and prior staff management experience will also be beneficial. You must have first class written and verbal communication skills in order to liaise effectively with staff across several different countries and time zones.
