Starship Child Health is an internationally recognised health leader, caring for New Zealand children and young people in ways which transform lives. Starship Foundation is the social-profit organisation that raises funds for Starship Child Health through highly professional and innovative activities to build sustainable funding streams.

We are looking for a Finance Team Leader to ensure the accuracy of the receipting functions to ensure data integrity and accountability to donors.   This role will ensure that all receipts are captured and coded correctly in Raisers Edge donor database and receipts are imported and reconciled in MYOB accounting software. Additionally this role takes an active lead facilitating accounting process improvements and the implementation of new software and systems.

The Finance Team Leader directs the work of two Finance Coordinators and works closely with the Head of Commercial Business to ensure the accounts and financial reports are completed accurately and on a timely basis.

You will also be responsible for the following:

  • Banking, receipting of donations, bank reconciliations
  • Raisers Edge gift batching
  • Direct debit and automatic payment processing
  • Debtors invoices
  • Monthly Reporting & GST Returns
  • Assisting the Head of Commercial Business with various projects including the upgrade of the accounting software
  • Assisting and offering guidance to the Donor Development Administrator with the reconciliation of gift batches to the daily bank deposits
  • Supporting the Events and Campaign Managers with accounting for transactions after each event, ensuring all events reports are completed
  • Business partnership support to the Donor and Corporate  Relationships team, particularly in the areas of donation payments, financial processes, reports and budget papers

Skills and experience:

  • At least three year's work experience demonstrating you have achieved a good working knowledge of transactional and operational accounting processes
  • University degree specialising in business and accountancy is desirable, however B Bursary or higher OR University Entrance is essential
  • Development and implementation of accounting processes using suitable IT software is a prerequisite
  • Involvement with the implementation of an accounting software package would be advantageous to this role
  • Broad knowledge of the use and application of databases and accounting software is essential, knowledge of Raisers Edge and MYOB would be an advantage.
