Jet Park Hotels has 2 wonderful New Zealand owned and operated hotels. It’s larger, flagship property- Jet Park Airport Hotel and Conference Centre is an award winning 4-star plus hotel situated only 5 minutes from Auckland International Airport.  The hotel has 222 rooms, an a la carte restaurant, lounge bar, and large 250-person conference facility.  It’s sister property is in Rotorua and has 63 rooms, is fully refurbished and walking distance to the town centre.  Combined, the hotels employ over 200 people and have been recognised with awards and excellent traveller ratings.

Financial Controller

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position effectively assumes control of the finance function for both hotels in Auckland and Rotorua. This role oversees a small finance team of 3 staff as well as 2 Inward Goods Officers.

The core focus of the role will be around team management, financial management, preparing financial reports monthly and ad-hoc for the group as well as ensuring efficient and effective controls across the board. 

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who has-

• A sound foundation in accounting (Qualified Accountant) and come from a role where you have played a key role in financial management and decision making.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong technical skills as well as an astute mind to find areas for improvement, and an ability to implement new systems or processes if/when required.
• The experience to lead people, drive performance and build key relationships.
• The ability to influence key business decision at all levels as well as provide coaching where necessary.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Good presentation skills and is honest, diligent and discreet with a focus on maintaining a positive culture.
• Confidence and can easily adapt to new software systems, highly proficient with excel and related software (Power BI would be a bonus) and is interested in the efficiencies that the digital age can bring.
• The ability to be hands on when needed.
• Ideally you will have come from the Hotels, Hospitality, Travel or the Tourism industry and will have a good understanding of where the finance function sits in a hotel and how it contributes to the wider business success. A solid understanding of revenue streams in hotels and key cost drivers in a food and beverage environment would naturally also be useful. Industry experience is not essential for this role – it is more about getting the right person into the business.
