About the Role 

Veritec’s Data Scientists are responsible for modelling complex business problems and discovering business insights through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques. You will contribute to building and developing data infrastructure and supporting our customers with insights, management reports, and analysis to assist with decision-making processes.

You will be responsible for developing an understanding of our customers decision-making process, workflows, business and information needs. Translating that into analytics and reporting requirements to support decisions-making and workflows with required information.

By identifying trends and patterns and identifying hidden relationships between variables in largescale data sets, you will be able to generate insights for our customers.

You will be required to research, develop and implement cutting-edge techniques and tools in machine learning / deep learning / artificial intelligence to make data analysis more efficient. Developing requirements that will be used to train and evolve deep learning models and algorithms.

Creating visualisations and engaging / interactive reports on the results of data analysis and support user experience specialists and information architects to enhance information visualisation through development of dashboards, user interfaces, and Virtual / Mixed / Augmented Reality.

Develop frameworks and processes to analyse unstructured information (such as sentiment analysis) collected through social media platforms i.e., wikis, blogs, instant messaging, etc. and traditional sources such as e-mail and SharePoint.

We deliver Public Sector Outcomes using Microsoft Technology.

Key Skills Required

  • Microsoft Azure
  • Up-to-date knowledge of machine learning and data analytics tools and techniques
  • Strong knowledge in predictive modelling methodology
  • Experienced at leveraging both structured and unstructured data sources
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex results to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience using statistics and machine learning to solve complex business problems
  • Experience conducting statistical analysis with advanced statistical software, scripting languages, and packages
  • Experience with big data analysis tools and techniques
  • Experience building and deploying predictive models, web scraping, and scalable data pipelines
  • Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, statistics, economics or related fields
  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
  • Strong experience in delivering to clients and managing expectations.
  • Co-ordinate work across cross-functional teams
  • Must be an Australian Citizen

Desirable

  • Microsoft Data Management and Analytics Certification (Exam 773 through 776)
  • Baseline Security Clearance is desirable
