The Organisation
At UNSW, we pride ourselves on being a workplace where the best people come to do their best work. We aspire to be Australia’s global university, improving and transforming lives through excellence in research, outstanding education and a commitment to advancing a just society.
The Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre (MWAC) sees the colocation of major research instrumentation in the university in purpose-built high-grade facilities for the study of the structure and composition of biological, chemical and physical materials.
Located within a purpose-built centre, the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Facility is well-equipped with 9 medium-high field NMR spectrometers (7 solution and 2 solid-state magnets) and 1 EPR spectrometer and supports the research and research training of >300 researchers and research students each year. The Facility additionally manages the vibrational spectroscopy laboratory.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Executive Director, MWAC and working with a valued and collegiate team, this is a rare opportunity to lead the next stage of development of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility and spectroscopy laboratory. With overall responsibility for high-level researcher support and the education, training, supervision and mentoring of staff and research users of the Facility, it’s likely this role will appeal to an academic with an independent NMR-related research portfolio and a passion for leadership.
About the successful applicant:
You have significant operational leadership and research experience in an NMR Facility and are motivated to join an already high-performing team with the potential to further develop collaborative research projects.
