A full-time position is available for a Professional Scientific Officer in our Microbiology Laboratory located in Claisebrook.
This laboratory operates 24 hours/7 days per week. This role will be required to Sunday to Thursday. As part of your rostered hours, you may be required to work on public holidays.
Duties include, and are not limited to:
- Apply high level scientific knowledge, skills, and experience in the delivery of services to the microbiology Laboratory
- Responsible for accurately recording experimental methods, materials and results in laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) , analysing data and evaluating results
- QC/QA participation, familiarity with NATA and TGA requirements, as well as working to GLP and GMP standards is essential in the role
- Ensure processes and procedures are conducted in accordance with approved procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to provide complex advice to laboratory staff, internal and external clients on a broad range of issues pertaining to Microbiology services
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with both the immediate work team and broader environment and to communicate effectively
The Successful Candidate must have:
- BSc in Microbiology or other scientific discipline (i.e. Chemistry, Food Science)
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar Microbiology position within an analytical laboratory environment
- Strong knowledge of NATA and TGA requirements, as well as working to GLP and GMP standards
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues
- Demonstrated ability to initiate , plan and evaluate improvement initiatives
- Outstanding attention to detail
