ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
SGS Australia has an opportunity available for an Assistant Laboratory Manager to join their Kalgoorlie based Laboratory on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager this role will assist in the daily management of the Laboratory and ensure the timely and quality analysis of samples. This role will also manage laboratory functions and client relations in the absence of the Laboratory Manager.
RESPONSIBILITES
As an Assistant Laboratory Manager, you will be required to:
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment.
- Keep clients informed on progress of samples and answer queries.
- Manage priorities and monitor progress to ensure timeliness and quality of results.
- Maintain appropriate staff levels and encourage enhancement of skills.
- Ensure staff training and records are kept.
- Train staff to maintain and improve their knowledge to be able to contribute towards progression of the laboratory.
- Responsible for quality and accuracy of results.
- Provide regular management and quality reports.
- Supervise laboratory personnel with respect to safety, quality and production.
- Maintain Quality Management System and Laboratory Manuals.
- Data review and issue completed reports.
- Address any issues of safety, quality or HR non-compliance
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
As the successful candidates, you will have:
- Professional qualifications in chemistry or a related discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Extensive experience in laboratory work and chemical knowledge
- Good understanding of computer applications and office administration
- Experience in supervising and training staff
- Competent in using CCLAS LIMS
- Knowledge of Company Quality Systems
