There is currently a great opportunity for a Speech Pathologist at Lizard Children's Centre in Camberwell on a Part Time (3 days per week) basis! If you are an experienced Speech Pathologist or a graduate with an interest in Early Intervention, we would like to hear from you! 

Lizard Children's Centre is one of Australia's leading providers of evidence-based intervention for young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related developmental delays and is a wholly owned subsidiary of AAA Nextt Group Pty Ltd. At the Lizard centre, our Behaviour Therapists implement high quality applied behaviour analysis (ABA) sessions in a child's home, day-care or school following the Lizard model. This includes both structured and naturalistic teaching, collecting, recording and graphing all data as advised by the Program Supervisor and implementing any Behaviour Intervention Plans.

About the role....

The role of Speech Pathologist involves:

  • Providing assessment and intervention services to children with autism spectrum disorder and other developments disorders in an early intervention setting
  • Working positively with in a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, behaviour analysts and behaviour therapists
  • Providing training to other staff in communication techniques including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) methods, language strategies and language goals
  • Providing clinical intervention and consultancy services to team members within the centre and on some occasions via Skype
  • Providing training workshops for parents and family members to promote communication development
  • Seeking and engaging in professional development activities to develop knowledge and skills

We are looking for…

A dedicated and passionate Speech Pathologist to join our friendly multidisciplinary team. The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • A recognised degree in Speech Pathology
  • Membership of Speech Pathology Australia (or eligibility to become a member)
  • Clinical experience in assessment and intervention of a paediatric caseload with clients aged 0-17yrs, with a focus on early intervention
  • Preferable experience working as a Registered Speech Pathologist
  • Clinical experience working within the disability sector with children with special needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse clients and their families
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated attitude of openness and willingness to learn and grow

It would also be advantageous if the successful applicant had:

  • An understanding of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and its role in the treatment of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • PROMPT training
  • SOS feeding training
