EL2 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Adviser

First Grade is currently working with a Federal Department to source an EL2, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Adviser on contract to December 2018 to join their Canberra based office.
 
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Adviser is to provide leadership across the agency and support the Indigenous Committee, CEO Working Group on Indigenous Health.  The Adviser will contribute to funding schemes relevant to Indigenous health, and being the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation on committees (review panels) and to implement measures under the Tripartite Agreement on international Indigenous health. 
 
The successful candidates must be an experienced and high performing individual to provide strategic research policy advice to management and the ability to work across organisational units and lead on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research.  This role will require close relationships with the senior executive therefore candidates must have an excellent judgement and very strong stakeholder engagement skills.
 
Candidates must have ability to: 

• Work efficiently to deliver high quality outcomes
• Understand the strategic context of Indigenous health, across government, nationally and internationally and use this to look for opportunities to align agendas
• Develop and sustain internal and external networks and work in partnership to manage projects and deliver results
• Communicate effectively to represent department and influence key stakeholders on complex issues
• Apply strong analytical skills and good judgement to solve problems in short time frames.

Experience in either the research or health sectors is desirable.
