About the role:

This local Council has commenced a range of technology projects across Council and has identified the need for a dedicated Change Lead whose primary responsibility will be creating and implementing change management strategies and plans that maximise employee adoption and usage and minimise resistance.

We are looking for an experienced Change Lead for a short term contract to assist the Manager Transformation in the delivery of change activities and interventions within the program. This includes playing a key role in direct support and coaching for senior leaders, managers and supervisors as they help their direct reports through transitions. The Change Lead will also support Digital and ICT project teams in integrating change management activities into their project plans.

This role will design and initiate the change management practice at Council and support project activities until a recruitment process can be concluded.

Flexible working arrangements are available. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Apply a change management process and tools to create a strategy to support adoption of the changes required by a large scale ICT Roadmap implementation.
  • Plan and manage core change management activities, deliverables and teams (including communications, stakeholder engagement, training, transition planning).
  • Assess the change impact across Council - conduct impact analyses, assess change readiness and identify key stakeholders to evaluate and ensure user readiness.  
  • Define and measure change success metrics, monitor change progress and report issues into governance forums.
  • Support the design and development of change communications.
  • Influence project delivery to integrate change management activities into project plans in both the Digital and ICT teams.
  • Support and engage senior leaders, coach managers and supervisors and manage stakeholders across Council.

Skills and qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a change management specialist (or similar) on a number of programs or large/complex projects, from conception to implementation and realisation of the business change
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships
  • Resilient and tenacious with a propensity to persevere
  • Problem solving and root cause identification skills
  • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization
  • Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others
  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle - both waterfall and agile
  • Change management certification or designation desired
  • Evaluate and ensure user readiness
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office tools, in particular Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
