Jacobs Security Services is one of Australia’s largest specialist security consultancy firms. Through our extensive and ever-growing portfolio of projects with many Government, Defence, Correctional and Commercial clients, Jacobs are seeking an experienced Senior Security Consultant to join our Canberra based security team to expand our national capability.

The Jacobs Security Team prides itself on providing comprehensive and high quality consulting services to our clients that fully addresses their needs and project requirements. Our approach is client focused, allowing us to do the job right the first time.

Our busy Canberra team works closely with other Jacobs security teams nationally and the Asia Pacific region across the full spectrum of security services.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Business development to win work and develop new security clients across all market sectors.
  • Accurately determine and document project scope when preparing proposals to clients
  • Work as part of our Canberra based and national security consulting teams, providing both leadership and support functions on a diverse range of projects.
  • Provide specialist security risk, electronic and physical security systems design and security advice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Well-developed knowledge of security policies, procedures and standards (incl. PSPF, eDSM, Type 1, CPTED, etc.).
  • Ability to obtain industry knowledge and market intelligence by maintaining regular contact with key manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and industry bodies.
  • Actively grow the security team by positively engaging with new and existing clients.
  • Manage time and cost control to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
  • Be willing to travel interstate as the projects require

 

The Ideal Candidate

As the ideal candidate for this role, you will possess relevant vocational education qualifications at the Diploma/Advanced Diploma level (Security and Risk Management, Electrical, Electronic and or Communications) or Bachelor of Science (Security, Justice Studies); Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical, Electronic and or Communication) will be highly regarded.

Current SCEC endorsement is mandatory.

You will have significant experience in a similar role providing design, documentation and specialist technical advice for both electronic and physical security solutions, security risk and security management planning.

To succeed in this role, you must be motivated to continuously improve and expand your capabilities maintaining up to date knowledge across a range of security disciplines. Jacobs provides support to assist in the continuous development of our staff.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about Security and the continued development of the professionalism of the Security Industry. This role allows the candidate to help guide the direction of the Canberra Security Team by allowing the active seeking of work in areas of experience and interest, including the development of new capabilities where necessary.

You must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance and security licences for all Australian jurisdictions.

As a self-motivated professional, you will show initiative and the ability to work independently or as part of a team being involved in interesting hands-on projects and in diverse working environments.. You must be able to work on a large number of security projects, for a range of clients simultaneously without compromising client expectations and Jacobs quality levels.

Requirements

  • Hold a current Security Consulting License (2A)
  • Working knowledge of ISO31000 and HB167
  • Solid understanding of the PSPF, ASIO T4 Technical Notes, eDSM and ISM
  • Experience in design, documentation and commissioning of security systems
  • Experience in developing new customers, tender submissions.
  • Construction Safety Training (White Card).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance at a minimum of Negative Vett 1 (NV1).
  • Current driver’s license
