About us

The Uniting Church in Australia is the third largest Christian denomination in Australia. The Synod of Victoria and Tasmania supports over 600 congregations and presbyteries in the region, providing a diverse range of services and functions, including mission services as well as financial, property and business services.

The role

We are seeking a passionate P&C Director to join us at an exciting time in the life of the Church. 

Reporting to the Executive Officer Mission Resourcing, this is a senior, hands-on, end to end role where you will champion P&C programs and activities to support staff at the Synod, UC Camping, Financial Services and congregations in Victoria and Tasmania. These activities must always live out the ethos and values of the UCA Synod Vic Tas.

This is an exciting time to join the UCA. As the Synod finalises its major strategic review program, you will have the opportunity to redesign the service delivery model for People & Culture, and develop and implement ongoing Human Resources strategies to support the workplace, the staff and the overall Synod.

You will manage a small team including some shared services to work with approximately 250 staff and 600 congregations employed in a diverse range of roles and industrial contexts. There will also be other relationships needed with the Institutions and other entities of the Synod. 

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, IR/ER or related discipline
  • Proven experience in a broad and complex business partnering role
  • Demonstrated IR/ER experience in ambiguous & complex settings
  • Expertise in HR, OH&S and Payroll functions
  • Exceptional influencing & relationship building skills
