About the opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a Copy Writer to join our Consumer Marketing team, based in our Mt Waverley office. As a copywriter on brands such as RYOBI, AEG, VAX, you’ll focus on tradesmen, DIYers and Floor care users. You will use your knowledge of marketing to create communications to inform and improve customer experiences, but more importantly to elicit specific actions that achieve business goals.

This role will work closely with the content strategist, product managers, brand managers, digital delivery manager, Search Agency and content team members. 

The core responsibilities of this role include:

• Writing a variety of content both promotional and informational for online assets and communications
• Actively working with the content strategist to drive editorial strategy and execution
• Design thinking and coming up with fresh and innovative ideas to revamp the website journeys via use of copy
• Ensuring guidelines and tone of voice are adhered to
• Managing internal stakeholders to meet project deadlines
• The content created must be relevant, engaging and easy to understand to help guide, advise, reassure DIYers or Tradesmen on the quality of our products
• The delivery of this content will need to be done in close consultation with the product managers and delivery teams who are creating templates and building front ends designs for the contents exposure
• Work closely with content and digital team to determine the most appropriate mode of content delivery based on learning goals to deliver the most focussed and concise message to achieve the right outcomes, for the right people and at the right time e.g. through articles, guides, infographics, photos, artwork etc.
• Exercise professional independent judgement to write clear and concise copy for digital channels to inform and engage a variety of target audiences.

About you:

To be successful, it is a given that you are gifted with words, able to craft, curate, edit and align information and are well-versed in the art of persuasion and marketing. A real passion for experimentation and an ability to move quickly is also a plus. Ideally, we love someone with:

• Degree qualified in communications, journalism or similar
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to write copy for a variety of audiences and digital channels.
• Experience in a similar role where you worked on website content development
• Strong stakeholder management experience
• Demonstrable commercial writing experience
• Demonstrated logic, creativity and imagination to create innovative and effective ideas for communicating a range of different messages to achieve set objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate with and influence stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes and seek out and act on feedback from internal and external customers to achieve improved business outcomes.
• Previous experience working with Ruby on Rails CMS is preferred
• An understanding of SEO and crafting copy with Keywords in mind will be favourable
