Cross Yarra Partnership (CYP) has been contracted by Melbourne Metro Rail Authority, on behalf of the Victorian Government, to design, build and maintain the stations and tunnels for the Metro Tunnel Project. CYP brings together three of Australia's leading construction partners, Lendlease, John Holland, and Bouygues Construction, that possess the world's best experience in tunnelling, engineering and construction.
The Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden (to be renamed North Melbourne), Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop.
We currently have an opportunity available for an accomplished Design Manager to play key role in execution of this iconic Melbourne project. You will be responsible for the co-ordination of all design functions for the project.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing all aspects and stages of the project, design from initial concept, award of contract, detailed design, and construction and commissioning on site.
- Daily involvement and Management of the Design Team.
- Oversee and coordinate all engineering/design aspects of the project and work with designers as well as the construction team to ensure that designs are produced accurately, timely and within budget.
- Take a lead role in problem solving and find innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
- Inspection of site works to confirm construction against documentation
- Ensure all design plans and documentation comply with local codes and standards
- Apply technical knowledge and input into tender bids, documentation and meetings
- Liaising between all relevant stakeholders including authorities, consultants and managers
- Identification of risks and opportunities, and search for cost savings during the design phase of the project.
- Finalize design documentation and issue for construction
To be considered for this role you will have:
- Major infrastructure project experience
- Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering or Architecture or Construction Management
- 10 Years' on-site experience in the field of Design/Construction Management
- Strong Leadership and Management Skills
- Flexibility to adjust to a constantly changing work scope and project requirement
- Ability to identify innovations in design under development
- Ability to manage the design development process
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong time management skills
- Strong Attention to detail
