We are advertising for an experienced nursing position within our Hospital. This role would suit a nurse with at least two years veterinary nursing experience.

Balmain Veterinary Hospital is a well-established practice delivering superior, quality veterinary service to the Balmain/Rozelle community for over 40 years. We have 8.5 full time vets and currently 13 full time equivalent support staff (nurses, reception and office). Our size means that we regularly see interesting cases and are able to practise very high quality medicine. We are strongly committed to providing excellent service to all patients and clients in a professional and friendly environment.

As a member of our team you will have the support of all of your team mates. Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • assisting veterinarians in medicine and surgery
  • confidently practising all clinical aspects of veterinary nursing including induction and monitoring of anaesthetics
  • performing nurse consultations and providing client education on preventative health and wellness topics
  • organise and overseeing smooth daily flow of procedure list and appointment schedule
  • supervising, training and motivating support staff
  • assisting with reception and administration as required

The successful applicant will possess the following attributes:

  • 2+ years of veterinary nursing experience with good references. Part way through or completed Cert IV Veterinary Nursing for NZ/UK/North America equivalent
  • a passion for working with animals in a community-centric environment
  • a pro-active nature and willingness to go above and beyond for clients, animals and tea mates
  • experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • commitment to continuing education and a natural curiosity
  • proven exceptional customer service skills along with an excellent and consistent phone manner
  • excellent time management and organisation skills with a strong attention to detail
  • good presentation and interpersonal skills
  • ability to commit to rostered and rotating shifts during the hours of Monday to Friday 6:30am-8:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 8:00am-6:00pm and occasional public holidays
