Client
Our client is a Christian organisation that works for the benefit of youth, especially those that have been disadvantaged due to family, social or economic factors; the aim is therefore not self-profit, but to benefit others.The group has large farming operations that are managed for commercial outcomes as well as for work with disadvantaged youth. The farms are of a significant size, for example there are 16,000 avocado trees and 12,000 macadamia trees on the property, as well as sugar cane and a range of other fruit and vegetables. We are currently searching for a suitable Farm Manager for one of the properties, located in Bundaberg, Queensland, reporting to the General Manager.

Responsibilities
The Farm Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day farm operations with the aim of optimizing production inputs and harvests through best practices. The Farm Manager is responsible for good work place health and safe practices, responsible and sustainable environmental control and maintaining healthy relations with the surrounding community and within the workplace. The focus of the farming operations is to provide training in agriculture and horticulture to young people in a human services and Christian culture. It is important that the Farm Manager understands this culture and will be a good cultural fit. While not necessary to be a practicing Christian the Farm Manager must be able to work within this culture for the good of both the farm operations and also the human services.

Requirements

  • Solid background in horticulture farm management, especially in tree crops such as avocados and macadamias.
  • Queensland Driver’s license
  • Forklift ticket
  • Chemcert ticket
  • First Aid certificate

Remuneration and Location
There is an very competitive salary package on offer to attract the right person for this role. Other benefits include the use of a company vehicle for traveling to and from work as well as limited local use, mobile phone and laptop computer. The role is located at Bundaberg in Queensland.
