Dogs Country Club & Kennel Resort, located on 13 bush acres with large play paddocks, on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula just 50 minutes from Melbourne, provides loving care for canine family members while their families are on holidays, are in hospital or undertaking home renovations.
With 10 purpose built canine accommodations, all featuring large under cover play yards, our facility provides boarding like no other.  Our experienced Doggy Doaters, owners who live on site and a strong word of mouth referral are just some of the many reasons that Peace of Mind is what our customer like most about Dogs Country Club.

This role includes working in the kennels and assisting our human customers in the office (as a support to our current office staff) and working in our K9 Kab Pick Up and Delivery Service - taking our four legged guests to and from their homes in safety.

 

Kennel Attendant duties include:

•Cleaning, Feeding & Medicating - daily cleaning of our guests accommodations to our very high standards.  Feeding our guests following our comprehensive procedures.  Medication administration would also be a part of this task and this requires high attention to detail
Monitoring and Assessing Behaviour & Daily Exercising- all guests need to be constantly monitored to ensure any changes, no matter how small, are attended to immediately.  Daily exercise is tailored to our guests individual needs
Bathing & Daily Checks - all our guests have a bath before departure so having experience in this area while not essential would be ideal.  All guests are also checked daily and you need to be confident in handling all manner of dogs to be able to complete these checks
Recording Information - we keep very comprehensive daily records of all our guests so the ability to communicate clearly, read and comprehend quickly and write clearly are all important traits you will have
Collecting Dogs that are arriving - having a confident and fun attitude is important when working with our customers to collect their beloved dogs.  For this you will have exceptional customer service skills and a positive attitude.

As a Kennel Attendant you will be working as a part of a larger team so having good communication skills, understanding how to work effectively as a member of the team and understanding the importance of supporting your fellow team members is crucial.

Customer Service & Office Administration duties include:

Customer service - when guests arrive and depart.  For first time visitors this can be quite difficult and empathy is an important trait to have
Taking bookings and customer inquiries over the phone, online and in person

Once trained - taking tours of our facility to explain what potential customers dogs will experience while on their holidays
Data entry
Organising arrival and departure of guests and their information and belongings
Processing payments


This is a casual position of 20 - 38 hours a week. Our business is open 365 days a year and this role requires you to be available to work not only weekdays, but weekends, and on some public holidays including Christmas and Easter depending on the roster scheduling. This schedule is ideal for people who appreciate time off to enjoy their hobbies or other pastimes at off-peak times when everyone else is working.

Because of the level of service we are known for, it's important you have an exceptional record in working with dogs in the animal care industry, a high level of experience in customer service and as mentioned above you must also be a competent driver with a spotless driving record. When submitting your application, please explain where you have developed these very important skills.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with animals. That means you are physically and mentally fit and have no ailments or conditions that would limit your ability to undertake the tasks required. But more importantly, you enjoy being with animals and rolling up your sleeves to get the job done.

With the large customer database, you need to enjoy multi-tasking and having a lot of different things to do. This role is ideal for you if you are autonomous and like to work on your own, while still being part of a team. We don't micro manage staff, but we do have strict standards and other measures we adhere to and track on an on-going basis. That means you will know how well you are doing with constant feedback and monitoring.

All our underlying systems and process are all computerised. That means you need to be Internet and computer savvy and can work a GPS competently.

You will have exceptional interpersonal skills. We will do extensive on-the-job training, but you need to be comfortable with basic computer tasks. When submitting your application, please specify which systems you've used in previous roles (if any).

Due to the size of our business and popularity of our services, you need to be able to learn and work quickly. The capacity to retain information is also important as you will be dealing with many different animals and customers on a day to day basis. 

You also need to be able to be calm under pressure and not be overwhelmed on our busiest of days.  Your common sense will be a strong part of what makes you effective in all that you do.

Having your own reliable transportation is crucial and essential to get to and from our location since public transport is, unfortunately, not readily available. Ideally you will live within 30 minutes of the Frankston area.
