About the program

This is an exciting opportunity to work at Melbourne City Mission’s Bassetts Road Early Learning Centre. The 120 place multi-purpose childcare centre provides a quality educational program for children from birth to 5 years of age. Bassetts Road ELC offers children and families an integrated early learning environment where children are nurtured to reach their full potential. High quality programs are developed under the National Early Years Learning Framework by qualified and experienced educators.

About the role

We are currently seeking a motivated, dedicated and nurturing professional Certificate III Educator. This educator will be able to foster a caring and educational environment through team work and contributing to providing high quality education and care.  The successful applicant will have a sincere passion for childcare with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. 

This is a fixed-term opportunity to cover maternity leave for a period of 12 months (until August 2019).

The successful applicant will be:

  • Ability to provide support and assistance to enable participation and access for all children.
  • Experience working in a long day care environment.
  • Commitment to providing a safe, caring, non-judgemental and supportive environment for children and their families.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Quality Improvement and Assessment process for early year’s services.
  • Ability to engage with and support children in an educational setting.
  • Ability to contribute to the program and planning in consultation with the Room leader.
  • Sound knowledge of child development.
  • Demonstrated capacity to guide children’s behaviour.
  • Awareness of the cultural needs of families.
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality of information.
  • Capacity to work positively within a team environment.
  • Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Available to work a minimum of 15 to a maximum of 37.5 hours per week.
  • Ability to work between the hours of 6:30am-6:30pm on rotating roster

Skills and experience

  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Must have knowledge of Early Years Learning Framework.
  • Current first Aid Qualification with ACEQUA guidelines.
  • Current Anaphylaxis, Asthma & Food Handling certificates
  • Capacity to respond appropriately to children at risk of harm or neglect
