- A scholarship opportunity for a PhD scholar at the University of Sydney.
- Conduct research within the Sydney School of Education and Social Work.
- Annual stipend allowance of $26,300 per annum for up to three years.
Background:
An opportunity exists for a PhD scholar to conduct research into why girls and women who had aspired to STEM careers in high school, opt out of those choices and careers, working with awarded Supervisor Professor Helen Watt on her unique longitudinal datasets within the Sydney School of Education and Social Work.
This Scholarship is funded by the Australian Research Council Future Fellowship scheme.
Open to:
1. This is offered subject to the applicant being eligible for an unconditional offer of admission, or being currently enrolled in, a PhD at the University of Sydney.
2. Applicants must conduct research into why girls and women who had aspired to STEM careers in high school, opt out of those choices and careers.
3. Applicants must have at least one of the following:
- Australian Honours degree (Class I or Upper Class II) in Education, Psychology or relevant discipline, or
- an equivalent research qualification.
4. Applicants must demonstrate competence in quantitative research methods and statistics.
5. Applicants must have advanced communication and writing skills.
Value and Duration: The Scholarship will provide an annual stipend allowance of $26,300 per annum for up to three years, subject to satisfactory academic performance.
A successful recipient from the Sydney School of Education and Social Work can apply for up to $2,000 per annum to cover expenses for attending conference(s) relevant to the subject of research.
