We are in the market for a self-motivated 1st class welder to join our trailer manufacturing company located in Narellan.

The successful applicant will perform duties of component manufacture for the aluminium manufacturing section.

Duties will include (but are not limited to) all aspects of aluminium welding in the manufacture of truck and trailer tipping equipment.

• You will be able to competently study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
• Select, clean and prepare metal stock, understand material selection and care of materials during the manufacturing process to ensure end product finish quality
• Must be able to competently use push-pull style mig welding machines and to weld in aluminium thicknesses ranging from 3mm to 20mm.
• Must also be competent with positional welding methods including, but not limited to, vertical up & over head.
• Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines. Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
• Be competent in using various hand tools including but not limited to circular saws, air saws, drills and like
• Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering. Join metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting. Examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision. Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
• Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
• Accountable for the general cleanliness of work area and tool cleanliness and return on a daily basis

The successful candidate must have the following:

• Relevant trade qualifications
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and also as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• Able to shift gears in a high paced environment and respond quickly to the requirements of production.
