Who is Standards Australia?

We are an independent not-for-profit organisation, recognised by the Australian Government as the peak non-government Standards body. We develop internationally aligned Australian Standards in the national interest and work closely across government, industry, consumer and stakeholder groups.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Economist to join our growing team. The position is a permanent, part-time and is based in Sydney CBD.

About the role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing economic analysis to all parts of our business on a project basis
  • Preparing and maintaining a set of reports that can be used across the business to support our work and role in the economy
  • Engage with stakeholders to prepare sector and issue specific reports and briefings where insight and value could be added through economic analysis
  • Preparation of impact assessments for standards proposed to be referenced in regulation
  • Assisting in our international capacity and capability building work
  • Reporting against activity and outcomes

What are we looking for?

We are essentially looking for an individual with exceptional team work and leadership skills, who is able to influence both staff and senior stakeholders alike.  The ideal candidate will be results focused with proven ability to analyse data and communicate insights clearly.  They will also have:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a an economic analysis role in industry, government or the third sector
  • University degree, or other relevant qualification in economics
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and effective time management skills
  • Problem solving and creative skills
