An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Engagement Officer to join the Sales and Business Development team at the multi-award winning precinct at the Mackay Entertainment Convention Centre (MECC).
About the MECC
The Mackay Entertainment Convention Centre (MECC) is a state-of-the art multi-million dollar precinct which provides unique settings for conferences, exhibitions, seminars and banquets. The facility consists of many versatile spaces including a 1090 seat theatre, 100 seat studio space, two plenary halls which when fully extended seats 1800 people, two dedicated foyers, bars, an experimental theatre space, breakout rooms and extensive front-house and backstage facilities.
The Role
The precinct is looking for someone who is passionate about live performances and building the audiences of the future. This is a newly created position which is critical to the management and extension of an already well established and nationally recognised youth engagement program. The successful candidate will be a creative self-starter, with business administration skills to manage sponsor relationships and funding programs, whilst identifying, creating, and delivering engaging interactions with the theatre going public in general.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal
- Background in the arts, entertainment, hospitality and/or public relations industries
- Experience working with schools, students and community groups
- Strong computer software skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications
- Current QLD ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence
The position is permanent full-time. Applicants must be willing to partake in an any five (5) out of seven (7) roster including weekends and nights.
