Our Economic Development team look after the implementation and promotion of the Economic Development strategy for ‘The City of Canterbury Bankstown’. This is to ensure that sustainable economic growth and prosperity of our city are met through key areas such as Employment Opportunities, Events, Tourism & Attraction as well as Community Engagement.

An opportunity has become available for a motivated and talented individual to join the team as an Economic Development Officer. This position will develop, implement and promote the Economic Development Strategy as well as further develop the Community Strategic Plan.

The Role

Your duties in this role will include:

Devise and implement an economic development strategy that will establish Canterbury Bankstown as a thriving and recognised regional centre.
Develop and deliver projects that promote economic development, employment creation and skills enhancement.
Collate and analyse economic development trends and labour market trends.
Develop strategic partnerships with high level internal and external stakeholders
Work closely with key partners to ensure appropriate strategic and project outcomes are achieved.
Engage with companies, government departments and local and regional economic development agencies around economic development, employment creation and skills enhancement issues.
Lobby government and service agencies for the provision of essential services and infrastructure.
Provide advice and reports to members of the Economic Development Board, Councillors and the public on economic development, employment creation and skill enhancement issues.
Carrying out other duties as required by the Manager Economic Development.

You will have:

Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Business, Marketing or Communications or a related field or extensive experience in a position undertaking similar duties
Current Class C NSW Driver Licence
Strategic analysis and interpretation with proven research and data presentation skills
Demonstrated computer literacy
Project management skills including organisational and time management skills; project development, budget development and monitoring
Experience in managing a Board, committees or networks.
Ability to meet strict deadlines
A willingness to undertake continuing professional development as appropriate
A Flexible attitude to responsibilities and work hours
